Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God, Mariupol, Donetsk oblast
At the end of March 2022, information emerged on the Telegram channel of the Azov Regiment about the seizure of the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Mother of God in Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, by Russian forces. The message reported that the Cathedral's premises were being used by the occupiers as a firing position to shell Ukrainian defense forces. As a result of these actions, the windows and facades of the cathedral were damaged.
Since May 2022, when the city came under the control of Russian forces, there is no up-to-date information available on the current state of the Cathedral.
