On March 7, 2022, the Holy Trinity Cathedral located on the territory of the Trinity and St. Elijah Monastery suffered minor damage. Damage to churches in Chernihiv was reported live on the nationwide TV-marathon. It was, in particular, about the impact of a projectile near the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Debris damaged the walls of the Cathedral, the windows, and the ancient unique painting "Appearance of the Lord to Saul" (to the future apostle Paul) was also damaged. The head of the department of scientific research of caves and monuments of archeology at the National Architectural and Historical Reserve "Ancient Chernihiv", Andrii Glukhenkyi also pointed out the splintered walls of the eastern monks’ cells behind the Cathedral, where the students of the theological school live. The Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP) is an important architectural monument of the Hetman era in Chernihiv (1695). The relics of St. Theodosius of Chernihiv are located in the Cathedral. The Holy Trinity Cathedral is an architectural monument of national importance (security number 250044/1-Н).
