On the evening of June 11, 2022, Ternopil region experienced a rocket attack. One of the missiles hit a target in the city of Chortkiv. The epicenter of the explosion was near the Old Synagogue. As a result, part of the building roof collapsed. Since the building was already in a rather neglected state, its technical condition only worsened. Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Azman posted on his Facebook page the information about the damage to the synagogue as a result of the Russian missile attack.
