As a result of a shelling, on March 7, 2022, the building of the Yelets' Monastery in the city of Chernihiv was damaged. In particular, in the house of St. Theodosius of Chernihiv shrapnel damaged window panes. The monastery itself was not the object of the shelling, but missiles flew over it during the shelling, the window was likely broken by the blast wave. This is stated on the website of the Information and Educational Department of the UOC (MP). Andrii Hlukhenkyi, head of the department of scientific study of caves and archaeological sites of the National Architecture-Historical Sanctuary (так вони перекладені у Вікіпедії, / National Architectural and Historical Conservation Area) "Ancient Chernihiv", who visited Chernihiv, reported that "as a result of shelling in mid-March, the bell tower of the late XVII century and the defensive walls/fortifications of the Yelets' Monastery were damaged. Near the entrance from Yelets'ka Street there is a 4-storey residential building, a shell hit this building and the fragments of this shell reached the bell tower and the wall of the Yelets' Monastery. The walls withstood, as they are one and a half meters thick, but the bricks were damaged and the plaster was chipped." The St. Dormition Yelets’ Monastery is a monument of architecture of national significance. It is one of the oldest monasteries of Ukraine. Founded in the year of 1060.
