As a result of shellings the St. Nicholas and St. Basil Dormition Monastery has suffered destruction repeatedly. On March 6, 2022, the monastery came under artillery fire. Several shells hit the territory of the abode: one got stuck in the ground, almost on the threshold of the Iviron Church, another damaged the roof and premises of one of the monastery buildings, where the bakery is located. On March 12, the house of Archimandrite Zosyma (Sokur), the founder of the monastery, burned down due to shelling on the territory of the monastery. On March 28 the Nicholas-Basil monastery once again underwent destruction as a result of shellings. The church, the utility buildings, the kitchen were damaged, and damage was caused to the monastery territory. This is reported by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC, with reference to the press service of the Donetsk Eparchy. Serious damage was caused to the domes of the Dormition Church. Shrapnel cut the walls of the monastery buildings. On July 13, according to the local residents, as the monastery is located on territory uncontrolled by Ukraine, a fire broke out on the territory of the monastery. The fire was provoked by massive artillery strikes. As a result, the workshops, library, and barn yard were destroyed. However, the monastic cells were damaged the most. On August 25, the main church of the monastery was damaged. According to the information from local Telegram channels, there was a "direct hit". On September 26, due to shelling on the territory of the monastery, the sisters' building and adjacent buildings caught fire. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the St. Nicholas-Basil Monastery. They also published photos. On November 9, the monastery building was once again damaged by shelling. According to the resource "Orthodox Life" ("Pravoslavnaya zhyzn’" - in rus.), on November 16, the monastery was under targeted fire all day. The buildings of the monastery complex continue to suffer significant damage.
