On March 10, 2022, the Taurian Christian Institute, located in Kherson, was seized by Russian forces and remained under their control until November 10, 2022. According to an official statement from Taurian Christian Institute on December 1, 2022, the University was significantly damaged and destroyed during the Russian occupation. The text states: “The Russian invaders looted everything they could. Moreover, they destroyed everything that they deemed of no value. Thus, around 30,000 books from the institute's library were simply taken to the dump. The modern dormitory, interactive classrooms, administrative building, state-of-the-art publishing house, and library were destroyed”. Additional information was provided on the Institute’'s Facebook page, stating that the Russian military cremated the corpses on the University's premises and that some buildings were destroyed on the night of August 28-29, 2022.

As of mid-August 2022, Taurian Christian Institute had relocated to Ivano-Frankivsk.
